1. introducing candidate (介紹候選身份)。
4. enclosing document (提及附加材料)。
7. ending politely(禮貌收尾)
a. dear sir,

replying to your advertisement…… answering your advertisement…… believing that there is an opportunity…… thinking that there is a vacancy in your company…… having read your ad……
1.(a)replying to your recent advertisement in the boston evening globe, i wish to apply for the position of sales manager…… (b)in applying for the position of sales manager i offer my qualifications, which i believe will meet your exacting requirements. 2.(a)i believe after reading your advertisement in this morning‘s journal that you have just the opportunity i am looking for. (b)your advertisement in this morning‘s journal for an adjustment manager prompts me to offer you my qualifications for this position 3.(a) having read your advertisement in the new york times for an accountant, i thought you might be interested in my application. (b)in your advertisement for an accountant, you indicated that you require the services of a competent person, with thorough training in the field of cost accounting. please consider me an applicant for the position. here are my reasons for believing i am qualified for this work. 1.i hesitate to state a definite salary, but, as long as you have requested me to , i should consider 6,500 a month satisfactory.
2. although it is difficult for me to say what compensation i should deserve, i should consider-a month a fair initial salary. 3.i feel it is presumptuous of me to state what my salary should be. my first consideration is to satisfy you completely. however, while i am serving my apprenticeship, i should consider-a month satisfactory compensation.
1. as for salary, i do not know what to say. would$4,500 a month be too much? 至于起薪,我不知怎么說,月薪四千五百元會(huì)不會(huì)太多? 2. do you think i should be asking too much if i said 5000 dollars a month? 若要求月薪五千元,會(huì)不會(huì)太高? 3. you know what my services are worth better than i do . all i want is a living wage.
應(yīng)征函或自薦函的結(jié)尾用語,試比較下列各句: 1.(a)軟弱、羞怯的: if you think i can fill the position after you have read my letter, i shall be glad to talk with you.
(b)改寫后(較佳): if my application has convinced you of my ability to satisfy you, i should welcome the opportunity to talk with you, so that you may judge my personal qualifications further. 2.(a)懷疑,不妥、不安全的: if you‘re interested, let me know immediately, as i‘m sure and interview will convince you i‘m the man for the job. (b)改寫后: may i have an interview? you can reach me by telephone at taipei 884525 between the hours of 7-9 a.m. and 5:30-9:30p.m. any evening.
3.陳腐的句子: hoping you will give me an interview, i am……(我希望您惠予面談) anticipating a favorable decision, i wait your……(等候您的佳音) trusting your reply will be satisfactory, i remain(靜候滿意的答復(fù)) 4.哀求式的句子,不夠完整(漏掉面談時(shí)間): won‘t you please give me the chance to interview your? i can be reached by calling kenmore 69781. 請(qǐng)打電話k-69781 (b)改寫后: may i have the opportunity to discuss this matter further with you? my telephone is kenmore 69781. you can reach me between nine and five o‘clock during the day.
5.太過自信的句子: i am quite certain that an interview will substantiate my statements between two and four every afternoon except tuesday you can reach me by telephoning 731430.
may i have an interview? my residence telephone is (0
4
2) 4398. you reach me by calling that number until june 30. after july 2, my address will be kent house, bretton woods, new hampshire.
1.i think that i should probably make a good bookkeeper for you.
2.i am confident that my experience and references will show you that i can fulfill the particular requirements of your bookkeeping position. 3.i recently completed a course in filing at the crosby school of business. i am competent not only to install a filing system that will fulfill the needs of your organization, but i am also well qualified to operate it efficiently.
4.i feel quite certain that as a result of the course in filing which i completed at the crosby school of business, i can install and operate efficiently a filing system for your organization.
replying to your advertisement …… answering your advertisement …… believing that there is an opportunity …… thinking that there is a vacancy in your company …… having read your ad ……
a:(1)replying to your recent advertisement in the boston evening globe, i wish to apply for the position of sales manager……
(2)in applying for the position of sales manager i offer my qualifications, which i believe will meet your exacting requirements.
b:(1)i believe after reading your advertisement in this mornings journal that you have just the opportunity i am looking for.
(2)your advertisement in this mornings journal for an adjustment manager prompts me to offer you my qualifications for this position
c:(1) having read your advertisement in the new york times for an accountant, i thought you might be interested in my application.
(2)in your advertisement for an accountant, you indicated that you require the services of a competent person, with thorough training in the field of cost accounting. please consider me an applicant for the position. here are my reasons for believing i am qualified for this work.
a:i hesitate to state a definite salary, but, as long as you have requested me to , i should consider 6,500 a month satisfactory.
b: although it is difficult for me to say what compensation i should deserve, i should consider__________a month a fair initial salary.
c:i feel it is presumptuous of me to state what my salary should be. my first consideration is to satisfy you completely. however, while i am serving my apprenticeship, i should consider__________a month satisfactory compensation.
a、i am not only competent to install a filing system that will fulfill the needs of your corporation, but also well qualified to operate it efficiently.(我自信不僅可以設(shè)置一套能滿足貴公司需求的檔案分類系統(tǒng),而且可以有效地進(jìn)行操作。)
在此句中使用了not only……but also,competent 和well qualified 等詞語,表現(xiàn)得太自信,有夜郎自大之嫌,故不可取。
b、i think that i should probably make a good accountant for your factory.(我想我可能工作總結(jié)成為貴廠的一名好會(huì)計(jì)員)。
c、i am confident that my experience and references will show you that i can fulfil the particular requirements of your secretarial position

你需要表達(dá)的觀點(diǎn)是:渴望、確信、真誠(i am keen, i am clear and i am sincere)。

when a sophomore,i joined the association of ai enthusiast andbegan to narrow down my interest for my future research.in 1997,i participated in simulation tool development for the scheduling system in prof.wang’s lab.with the tool of opengl and matlab,i designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system.it is now widely used by different research groups in nust.in 1998,i assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis &dispose project for nanjing sewage treatment plant.this was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.
in 1999,i joined the distinguished professor yu-geng xi's research group aiming at network flow problem solving and heuristic algorithm research.soon i was engaged in the fudan gene database design.my duty was to pick up the useful information among different kinds of gene matching format.through the comparison and analysis for many heuristic algorithms,i introduced an improved evolutionary algorithm -- multi-population genetic algorithm.by dividing a whole population into several sub-populations,this improved algorithm can effectively prevent ga from local convergence and promote various evolutionary orientations.it proved more efficiently than sga in experiments, too.in the second semester,i joined the workshop-scheduling research in shanghai heavy duty tyre plant.the scheduling was designed for the rubber-making process that covered not only discrete but also continuous circumstances.to make a balance point between optimization quality and time cost,i proposed a dynamic layered scheduling method based on hybrid petri nets.the practical application showedthat the average makespan was shortened by a large scale.i also publicized two papers in core journals with this idea.recently,i am doing research in the composite predict of the electrical power system assisted with the technology of data mining for bao steel.i try to combine the decision tree with receding optimization to provide a new solution for the composite predictive problem.this project is now under construction.
besides,in july 2000,i got the opportunity to give a lecture in english in asia control conference (ascc) which is one of the top-level conferences among the world in the area of control and automation.in my senior year,i met prof.xiao-song lin,a visiting professor of mathematics from university of california-riverside,i learned graph theory from him for my network research.these experiences all rapidly expanded my knowledge of english and the understanding of western culture.
i hope to study in depth
in retrospect,i find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the ph.d.program.my future research interests include: network scheduling problem, heuristic algorithm research (especially in ga and neural network),supply chain network research, hybrid system performance analysis with petri nets and data mining.
please give my application materials a serious consideration.thank you very much.

1.inreplytoyouradvertisementintoday'snewspaper,irespectfullyoffermyservicesforthesituation.
2.replyingtoyouradvertisementinto-day'sissueofthe(newspaper),iwishtoapplyforthepositioninyouresteemedfirm.
3.withreferencetoyouradvertisementin(newspaper)ofmay2foraclerk,ioffermyselfforthepost.
4.iwishtoapplyforthepositionadvertisedintheenclosedclippingfromthe(newspaper)ofnovember12.
5.inanswertoyouradvertisementinto-day'snewspaperforasecretary,iwishtotendermyservices.
6.learningfromxxthatyouarelookingforasalesmanager,ishouldliketoapplyfortheposition.
7.youradvertisementforatelephoneoperatorinthenewspaperofmarch8hasinterestedme,ifeelicanfillthatposition.
1.forthepastthreeyears,ihavebeenintheofficeofthexxtradingco.,whereihavebeenanaccountant.
2.iamtwentyyearsofage,andhavebeenemployedforthelasttwoyearsbythexxco.,inthegeneralclericalworkoftheoffice.
3.iamtwentyyearsofage,andamanxioustosettledowntoofficework.
4.sincemygraduationfromtheschooltwoyearsago,ihavebeenemployedinxxhotelasacashier.
1.iamabletotakedictationinenglishandtranslateitrapidlyintochinese.
2.ihavereceivedanenglisheducation,andhaveaslightknowledgeofspanish.itookaspanishcourseincollege.

5.atschooliwonascholarshipandthefirstprizeinaspeechcontest.

1.ishouldbegladtohaveapersonalinterviewandcanfurnishreferencesifdesired.
2.irequestaninterview,andassureyouthatifappointed,iwilldomybesttogiveyousatisfaction.

8.iwishtoassureyouthat,ifsuccessful,iwouldendeavortogiveyoueverysatisfaction.
1.youwillfindenclosedanoutlineofmyeducationandbusinesstrainingandcopiesoftwolettersofrecommendation.
